The Story:
The Big Hero is a family comedy about the challenges to Christopher’s and Sally’s budding friendship when their restaurant-owning families compete against one another for a $10,000 prize and bragging rights to the best sandwich in town.
The Inspiration:
“I was inspired to write The Big Hero after attending the live screenplay readings at the 2012 ReelHeART International Film Festival. Two of the three feature screenplay winners were wonderful family comedies, one by Deanna Dewey and the other by Mary Huckstep. I had never written anything in that genre and thought it might be a good challenge. Once I started writing out the story, I found myself becoming very involved with these people, drawing inspiration from the Italian-American families I grew up around in suburban New York. I’m excited to see how the actors interpret it for the live audience!”
